The Impact of Social Prescribing: New Evidence
New evidence reviews by our Academic Partners suggest that social prescribing can have a wide range of positive outcomes, reduce pressure on primary care and save costs for the NHS. The evidence summaries focus on research into outcomes, economic impact, funding models, and who is and isn't accessing social prescribing. Read the full summaries, and our own briefings, below.
Social Prescribing Week
On 4-11 March we celebrated Social Prescribing Week, commencing with the Social Prescribing Show at the Southbank Centre in London. We heard from a range of panels, exploring topics including the role of communities in improving health and wellbeing, the importance of supporting social prescribing link workers, and global social prescribing.
On 10 March, we celebrated #SocialPrescribingDay, a day to celebrate the amazing work of everyone involved in social prescribing. It was brilliant seeing so many people get involved on social media. A big thank you to everyone who contributed!

Social Prescribing Champions Programme Recruitment
We are delighted to announce that we are looking for new Social Prescribing Champions. The programme is open to NHS staff in clinical and non-clinical roles, and will focus on raising awareness of social prescribing within the workplace, supporting primary and secondary care collaboration for social prescribing, connecting with link workers, and sharing knowledge with health and care professionals.
Applications close on 28 April.
Art by Post
During the first COVID-19 lockdown, we partnered with the Southbank Centre to launch Art by Post, which provided free creative activities to people across the UK at risk of social isolation, loneliness and digital exclusion.
A national touring exhibition, as well as a showcase of the pieces on billboards and bus stops around the UK, has taken place over the last few months.
We are delighted that this fantastic project is being highlighted by Google Arts & Culture. Find out more by clicking the button below.
