Public Health (Cornwall Council) and VCSE Partnership – Social Prescribing & Community Development Work
HELLO and WELCOME EVERYONE
It’s 2023 and hard to believe how the time has passed so quickly since Social Prescribing was delivered across half of the surgeries in Cornwall back in September 2018, with the original VCSE pilot. There are now in excess of 40 Social Prescribing Link Workers, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, Community Navigators and similar roles countywide, and the demands on services increase. We continue to experience challenging times and endeavour to ensure that as many inputs and updates are offered to Social Prescribers to enhance their knowledge to support their communities. Recent sessions have included:
- Women’s Centre Cornwall
- Advocacy People
- Stroke Association
- Talking Therapies (IAPT)
Following a very successful Social Prescribing Network meeting at Ladock in November 2022, please see below some photos from the event, where we were able to consult further on the SP strategy, listen to some updates on community and warmth hubs, winter wellbeing, Active Cornwall, the National Association of Social Prescribing and others, and most importantly have time to network with each other in the same room for almost three years!
The next Social Prescribing Network Meeting will be held on 14 March 2023
- At: Venue TBC shortly.
- 4pm - 6pm
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there.
Finally, a date for your diaries, Thursday 9th March 2023 is National Social Prescribing Day, which is an annual celebration of social prescribing, recognising link workers, local community groups and regional and national organisations which support people’s health and wellbeing.
Do let us know what you are doing in your surgeries/community areas and if you want to send us any pictures we can feature them for you.
Keep up the great work everyone!
